COMBI Connection Method
This new series now offers the user a free choice
of connection methods. Available are basic terminal blocks and connectors
using the four connections methods screw, spring-cage, direct plug-in
and fast connection. Terminals and connectors can be combined in
any way regardless of the connection method. Especially for control
cabinet manufacturers, the high variability provides significant
competitive advantages. The series is completed by free-hanging
couplings, which are also available as panel feed-throughs and as
a rail-mountable version. The connectors can be ordered completely
assembled or for self-assembly with individual connectors available
in grey, blue and green-yellow. Via a combination of basic terminal
and connector, the user can quickly create a modular and flexible
application up to 800 volts and 32 amp when using this system. The
same accessories can be used for all applications due to the integration
of the COMBI connector into the modular terminal block system. Thus,
storage work and logistical costs are are cut considerably.

Stackable DUPLICON Connecter now VDE Certified
The stackable DUPLICON connecter has been certified
according to DIN EN 61984 (VDE 0627) by the VDE. Thus, for the construction
of power distribution systems, DUPLICON offers the customer an electrical
and mechanical safety that fulfills VDE requirements. All connections
are touch proof in accordance with DIN VDE 0105 and fulfil the requirements
of the BGV A2 accident prevention regulations.
DUPLICON is a stackable Phoenix Contact connector
system with IP 67 protection for power distribution in modular and
distributed machines and systems. The system provides connection
options for 6 x 4 mm² + PE /690 V / 25 A conductors for power
and 24 V or ASi bus.

FO Connectors With Fast Connection Technology
and IP67 Protection
The SCRJ connector by Phoenix Contact is the first
FO connector with fast connection technology and IP 67 protection
available on the market. Due to the 2.5 mm ferrule, the small form
factor plug connector SCRJ in acc. with EN 50377-6-1 is suitable
for common fiber types like multi-mode glass fibers, HCS and polymer
fibers (POF). Connectors with IP20 and IP67 protection that can
be assembled in the field as well as corresponding assembly tools
are available for these fiber types.
Easy handling allows connecting the connectors in
an industrial environment even under the toughest conditions. The
assembly tools sets contain all tools and materials needed for field
assembly. For fiber optic cabling Phoenix Contact also offers suitable,
robust cables by the meter as well as pre-assembled cables.
The connector can be used for all data transmission
based on fiber optics in a rough environment, e.g., automation technology,
cabling in industrial halls, traffic guidance technology and telecommunications.

SPC 5 and ST16 PCB Plug Connectors
The two spring-cage connectors SPC 5 and SPC 16 are
the solution for user-friendly and time-saving wiring in PCB connection
technology. Both connectors are equipped with the Combi-Spring spring
cage connection to enable direct conductor connection without tools.
This spring allows the contact of connection cross sections of up
to 6 mm² (flexible) and 10 mm² (solid). Thus, already
in a pitch of 7.62 mm a current of up to 41 A can be transmitted.
The SPC 16 connector with a 10.16 mm pitch also allows for contacting
connection cross sections of up to 16 mm² without tools and
little force. Here, the current carrying capacity is 76 A.
Both connectors have the unlimited 600 V UL certification
in Usegroup C and are therefore suitable for use on the international
market. They are compatible with the headers already available on
the market and provide an alternative to connectors with screw connection.

IPC 5 – for a Finger-Safe PCB Output
The already familiar COMBICON Power PC 5 family now
includes the inverted IPC 5 versions. This means that we now offer
solutions for finger-safe device outputs for currents up to 41 A.
Thus, with a 7.62 mm pitch an optical and secure differentiation
of power input and output is possible. Combined with the standard
PC 5 connecter and header the inverted connector system allows for
cable-cable and PCB-PCB applications. The connectors with screw
flange and EMC shield together with vertical and horizontal headers
and headers with solder-in direction reversed by 180° form a
complete connection system for 600 V UL.

A First-Hand Impression of High Current
Successful kick-off of the “Developers' Forum
Power Electronics” events at the Lufthansa Flight Training
Center in Frankfurt. 40 participants, representatives and exhibitors
met to discuss and exchange the latest developments in the area
of high current for the PCB. Three different high current designs
and the issue of UL approval were represented and discussed in pairs
on just one afternoon.
Besides the specialist presentations that were given,
a tour of the training center for Lufthansa pilots provided a first-hand
impression of technology in use – something that surely made
this event even more interesting.
This free event will be continued in Stuttgart, Munich,
Bottrop, Bielefeld and Hamburg.

Updated selection tool for surge voltage
protection in IT technology STOP-IT
The selection tool for surge voltage protection devices
of data, telecommunication, MCR and radio systems was updated again.
Besides new interfaces, revisions at already existing presentations
were effected and application drawings were added.
Technical data of the individual surge voltage protection
devices are described as usual. Make use of the selection tool STOP-IT
and you will find the appropriate surge voltage protection for your
application.

New Trio Power Supply Units Bridge Gap
in Market
The gap in the market is closed. With the launch of
the Trio Power supply units, now power supply units that unite basic
functions with high quality and reliability are available. They
combine high quality and basic functionality. Thus, they are the
alternative to conventional power supply units that can be bought
at low prices because of their low quality.
In standard machine production, power supply unit
requirements are largely defined in advance. If larger quantities
of same machines are produced, e.g., ticket or soda vending machines,
basic functions are sufficient. Technical details like remote monitoring
of the power supply unit are not required. The reason for this is
the fact that in critical applications not a single power supply
unit, but the whole system is monitored remotely, e.g., an annunciator
panel in the airport.
In an industrial environment, the reliable supply of nominal values
– even at high ambient temperatures which can easily rise
above 50° C – is vital. Even at a temperature range of
55° to 70° C, Trio Power keeps working reliably with a derating
of 2.5 %/K.
Trio Power offers further operational safety thanks to the high
dielectric strength of up to 300 V AC. Simple grounding by a third
negative terminal block and easy setting of the output voltage up
to 29.5 V DC at the front of the device prove to safe assembly time.

Modular Fieldbus Hub Creates Flexibility and
Higher Performance
The new PSI-REP repeater program by Phoenix Contact
allows for realising structured installation concepts in PROFIBUS,
MODBUS and numerous RS 485 systems. With the modular design of the
repeater system, individual branches as branch line, line, star
and tree structures can be configured. For this, every device can
be operated stand-alone or can be added on in the network to form
a modular hot swap capable star coupler: The advantages for the
customer are shorter segment lengths at significantly increased
transmission speeds and a non-interacting potential segmenting for
the entire Fieldbus cabling. Each individual port has an electrical
isolation of 1.5 kV. The integrated bit retiming allows unlimited
cascading of the devices for network extensions of up to a couple
of kilometres.
The installation system offers another special technical feature
with the combined use of PO modules of the PSI-MOS program. They
can be integrated seamlessly into a station network. Thus, the customer
can choose whether to use copper or PO technology as transmission
medium for each individual part section. Cross wiring within a station
network is created automatically via the system bus foot for data
and supply. Stations can be extended and modules exchanged during
operation. In addition, a system power supply is available for redundant
supply.
