Industrial Connection Technology - CLIPLINE

High-speed printer with state-of-the-art UV technology

BLUEMARK makes the labeling of plastic labels for terminal block, conductor and device marking as easy as a paper printout. The integrated magazine can be equipped with up to 20 UniCard labeling sheets. The sheets are checked when fed into the printer and if necessary, the print image is rotated by 180°.

Modern UV technology guarantees a fast and environmental-friendly printing process of up to 10,000 labels per hour. As it uses solvent-free ink, the BLUEMARK printer can be used in clean rooms and the labeling is wipe-resistant. The printer has a USB interface and is network-capable with Ethernet or can be controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth.

As part of the MARKING system range, the printer is addressed using the CLIP PROJECT software and, in combination with a wide range of materials for terminal block, conductor and device labeling, meets all requirements for a complete labeling system.

Modular Terminal Block System Expanded by Bolt Connection

The RT Ring Lug terminals expand PHOENIX CONTACT's CLIPLINE complete modular terminal block system by the robust bolt connection technology for wiring conductors with ring cable lugs. The RT family combines a connection method well established on the US market with the advantages of the CLIPLINE complete system. The latter features simple potential distribution via plug-in bridges, large labeling areas with seamless middle marking as well as uniform testing accessories.

The RT family covers feed-through and ground terminal blocks for conductors with ring cable lugs of 1.5 mm² to 35 mm². Furthermore, disconnect terminal blocks for connecting current converters are available for use in energy supply. The shock protection is handy. The cap nuts are held securely in hinged folding wings. They can be fastened using off-the-shelf screwdrivers and when the wings are tilted down, are positioned exactly above the connection bolts. If touch safety is not required, the less expensive RTO range, which is of the same shape, can be used.

PCB Connection - COMBICON

COMBICON compact Headers

Phoenix Contact pin strips are made of high-temperature-resistant material and thus can be used for reflow soldering. They are available in tube magazines or on tape and therefore suitable for automatic PCB assembly. For this, the pin strips have a pad for the solder pipette.

Optional color coding of the pin strips enables easy installation of devices to be connected. This way, an error-free connection is guaranteed when matching connectors are used.

Thanks to their geometry which is gentle to the plug, the pins can be inserted and withdrawn many times without damaging the contacts of their counterpart. Thus, the contact surfaces are not stressed and the quality of the electrical features stays continuously high.

For more information on geometries and pin lengths, please contact us or visit our website.

"TechDay COMBICON" in October

As the "Power Electronics Developer Forum" events of last year were such a success, we have decided to host the "TechDay COMBICON" in Herrenberg on October 10, 2007. For this event, specialist presentations are planned on the topics of high-currents PCBs, trends in power electronics and the latest developments in THR.

The accompanying trade exhibition will provide a forum for meeting speakers, experts and visitors. Come visit us and seize the chance to learn more about the latest development in PCB connection technology.

Participation in the event is free. We will provide more information on the "TechDay COMBICON" and how to sign up on the internet shortly.

Plug connectors with Double Connection for Power Electronics

The Phoenix Contact double connections TSPC 5 and TPC 16 offer pluggable solutions for the implementation of voltage distribution and looping through from device to device in power electronics.

The TSPC plug connector can be used to transmit powers of up to 41 A when a solid conductor of 10mm² is connected. Due to the push-in spring-cage connection, the conductor connection is implemented quickly and without the need for tools. In the performance class up to 76 A, the TPC 16 connector with screw double connection allows for the looping through of multiple-axe systems up to a flexible connection cross section of 16 mm². Both double connections are available with a screw mounting flange for locking on to the header for use in vibration-hazardous areas. Both plug connectors have unlimited 600 V UL approval and are therefore suitable for use on the international market.

Halogen-free Cables – the new Standard for M12 and M8 at Phoenix Contact

In recent years, halogen-free cables have become increasingly important in industrial environments. But which advantage to these cables have compared to non-halogen-free materials, e.g. PVX?

PVC and PUR/PVC cables are of low flammability and largely self-extinguishing.
In the event of fire, however, halides evolve, which compound with hydrogen set free from the burning plastics, thus forming highly corrosive and toxic new compounds.
This often results in corrosion damages that are worse than the actual fire damage.
Furthermore, in addition to hyghly toxic gases, extremely opaque smokes develop. If sight and orientation are hindered inside the building, people might not be able to escape in time.

Halogen-free cables with special flame retardants are incresingly used for highly-frequented buildings or buildings with large material assets, e.g. airports, multistory buildings, train stations as well as in shipbuilding or automotive production sites.

In order to meet these rising demands, now the Phoenix Contact standard program for M12 and M8 cables only comprises halogen-free cables. Not only is the outer sheath of the cables made of PUR, the wires are also made of halogen-free material as polypropylene or polyethylene.

Thus, these high-quality cables show improved mechanical features
(4 million bending cycles as a minimum when drag chain is installed corretctly). Furthermore, toxic combustion gases and strong smoke development are minimized and corrosive gases are not produced. By the way, the halogen-free cables are available at the same price as the standard PUR/PVC cables previously used.

M12 plug connector with screw connection

The Phoenix Contact SPEEDCON product range has been extended by the M12 plug connectors with screw connection for free assembly.

After assembly of the cables, electric connections are installed using M12 connectors with only half a turn. The connection time is reduced by 90%. Plug connectors and sockets are available from stock in straight and angled versions.

SPEEDCON connectors meet all electric and mechanic requirements of classic M12 connector systems and are a 100% downward compatible.

Surge Protection - TRABTECH

Surge arrester for Photovoltaic Systems for up to 1000V DC

With the VAL-MS 1000DC/2+V-FM surge arrester, Phoenix Contact offers a type 2 arrester for photovoltaic systems with string voltages of up to 1000 V DC. The arrester consists of a compact installation block as base element and three protective connectors on a total width of 52.5 mm (3 div.). The protective circuit is implemented using varistors from L+ to L-, L+ to PE and L- to PE. Thanks to the pluggability of the surge protection, isolation measurement in the system can be carried out quickly and easily. In the case of overload, which is indicated by the visual fault indication on the plug connector, the faulty plug connector can be replaced at little expense. The common remote signaling monitors all three protective plugs. Recurring tests of the surge arresters are implemented fast and easily using the Checkmaster arrester testing device.

PROFIBUS Solutions from Phoenix Contact: From the Control to the Sensor

Phoenix Contact offers a comprehensive product range which makes it easy for you to implement integrated PROFIBUS solutions fast. I/O systems, for example, are available in both modular and block design.

Whereas Inline modules with IP20 protection are used in the control cabinet, Fieldline components with IP65/67 protection are designed for field installation. Infrastructure components, such as fiber optic (FO) converters and repeaters, provide support for the design of user-specific bus topologies, which can be implemented in copper or fiber optic technology as required. Our cables and connectors can be assembled on site within just a few minutes thanks to the SUBCON-PLUS or F-SMA/B-FOC fast connection system. Our PROFIBUS portfolio is rounded off with intelligent motor starters and various gateways, which establish the connection to other bus systems.
