SPT 16 - PCB terminal block mit Push-In-spring-cage connection

The new Phoenix Contact spring-cage-PCB terminal block SPT 16 supplements the SPT family program in the high performance class. As in the case with the other members of the SPT family SPT 1.5; SPT 2.5 and SPT 5, the SPT 16 can also be connected via the comfortable Push-In spring-cage connection using a conductor connection tool.

Thanks to the 10 mm pitch zig-zag pinning, it goes without saying that this high performance PCB terminal block has unrestricted Usegroup C 600 V UL certification (1000 V according to VDE).

In the case of the single poled PCB terminal block, two soldered pins assure heightened stability on the printed circuit board and the connection cross-section of 16 mm² flexible achieves a current carrying capacity of 76 A. For smaller connection cross-sections and thus smaller currents, the current carrying capacity curve has to be observed. Multiple pinned versions consist of a single terminal block, that may be arranged in any number of positions as required. This makes pin to pin color coding possible. The SPT 16 is available as a vertical or horizontal version.

Sensor/Actuator cabling with EX-CLIP for use in potentially explosive areas

Phoenix Contact has increased its program of products for use in potentially explosive areas. Pluggable connectors may not be disconnected during operation without the help of tools in a potential zone 2 gas or a zone 22 dust explosive area. These requirements are fulfilled with the use of EX-CLIPS. Thus Phoenix Contact Sensor/Actuator cabling may be used in zones 2 and 22.

PROFINET - Connectors with manufacturer’s declaration

Phoenix Contact PROFINET connectors are all available with manufacturer's declaration according to the requirements of the PNO. That improves the choice of component for reliability PROFINET-networks considerably.

In the case of secure environments, VARIOSUB RJ45-Quickon for copper based cabling and VARIOSUB-SCRJ for all other cable types enable easier deployment in the field using fast connection technology. Due to its compactness and suitability for operation in immediate machine surroundings, the M12 with D coding is appropriate for use in more harsh environments. Alternatively the push-pull plug connection system can be used which is equally useful for transmission of optical as well as electrical signals. Due to the same RJ45-Quickon connection principle as the one used during IP20 installation, assembly is always uniform and convenient. A series of M12 as well as 7/8“ power connectors and circular connector for the voltage supply are also available for the Push-Pull-Data Connectors.

The reliability of the PROFINET-network depends considerably on the quality of the component used, and the requirements are defined in a PNO guideline. In order to ensure maximum safety for the user, only those components should be integrated into a PROFINET network, where compliance to this guideline is certified through a manufacturer declaration and is listed on the PNO internet page. Phoenix Contact ist the first manufacturer whose product program has qualified for this and who documents this with a manufacturer's declaration.

PLUSCON field: Cable run type 800 (TPE-U) now with 10 million bend cycles

The specially constructed TPE-U Type 800 cable for longer downtimes in robotic or drag chain applications can now be specified for at least 10 million bend cycles.

Completely new is the resistance to welding sputter without the otherwise usual crosslinking by irradiation. This new thermoplastic elastomer is fully recyclable, will not pollute the environment and is of particular interest for companies that are in possession of DIN EN ISO 14001 environment certification. In addition this cable run is specified for continual temperature stability from +120 C° with immediate effect.

The line quality is available as unshielded for all M8-/M12 connectors in grey up to 8 poles via the article variant order.

PLUSCON data: Connector for Fieldbus Foundation presented at the Hannover fair

Phoenix Contact presented its new cabling system Fieldbus Foundation (FF) at the Hannover trade fair. Like PROFIBUS PA, Fieldbus Foundation is a field bus system for process automation. Already widespread in Asia and America, FF is rapidly becoming an alternative for PROFIBUS-PA. Currently Phoenix Contact offers 7/8" cable run in various lengths, a 7/8" T-decentral and a 7/8" termination resistor for FF H1 bus field cabling. In the coming months the program will be supplemented with certifications and accessories for the Ex group.

Sensor/actuator cabling for the food industry with IP69k protection

Hygienic cleanness is indispensable in food and medicine technology. Detergents and pressure washers are used to clean the components and devices from impurities. Hence IP69k protection is obligatory.

The M12 flush-type connectors and freely configurable M12 plug connectors have been tested and approved for IP69k protection by an independent test laboratory. In addition, the corrosion-resistant components made from stainless steel 1.4404 allow for a reliable application in the food industry.

Phoenix Contact offers a comprehensive product range for the food industry, consisting of M12 components such as flush-type connectors, freely configurable plug connectors, sensor/actuator cables and sensor/actuator boxes with master cable.

M12 appliance plug connector with THR connection

Phoenix Contact now offers a complete product range of M12 flush-type female connectors and plugs with THR (Through-Hole-Reflow). M12 device connectors with Through-Hole-Reflow capability can be mounted and soldered onto the PCB together with SMD components using the same procedure and under the same conditions. The process-optimized geometry and machine-capable, stackable tray packaging ensure optimal handling in the pick & place mounting process.

The product range consists of 4, 5, and 8-pos. versions. For field bus specifications, the contact carriers are available in B and D coded models with shield contact. The spring-loaded shroud enables permanent, secure contact between the housing and the PCB.

The SPEEDCON M12 screw connections with fast connection technology included in the scope of supply are inserted from the front of the device through the housing recess, and screwed on from the inside using a locking nut.

Saving energy with the STEP POWER power supply unit

The new power supply unit family STEP POWER in its purpose built house for building automation offers maximum energy efficiency. Power dissipation of up to 0.4 W in idle is kept extremely low. 89% efficiency at 230 V AC input voltage and nominal load causes only minimal power dissipation. Thus the power supply helps to save energy.

The 36, 54, 72 and 90 mm sized assemblies deliver 0.75, 1.75, 2.5 and 4.2 A with 24 V DC output voltage and 1.5, 3 and 5 A with 12 V DC. With the exception of the 36 mm variant, the nominal output voltage of 12 and 24 V DCEE can be continuously adjusted from 10 to 16.5 repectively 22.5 to 29.5 V DC in oder to compensate voltage drop on long cable runs.

Each power supply can be mounted either on a DIN rail snap or be screwed onto flat surfaces. Due to wide-range input from 85 to 264 VAC or 95 to 250 VDC they can be used all over the world and continue to function reliably during any voltage fluctuation in the power supply network. The wide temperature range from -25 to +70°C allows use in a wide variety of applications. The device functions according to the UI characteristic curve which means that the power supply does not switch itself off during overloading or short circuiting and will continue to provide maximum short circuit current. This facilitates reliable operation with both capacitive loads and loads form DC/DC transformers in the input circuit.
