Pluggable Installation Blocks for Worldwide Usage

FLASHTRAB compact FLT-CP means surge protection combinations for power supply in confined spaces. They have a unique combination of continuous, encapsulated, pluggable surge current arresters as well as powerful, pluggable, first class surge voltage arresters. For the very first time, this surge protection combinations also has a pluggable total current spark gap. All relevant connectors have mechanical status signalling. In this way, no electric energy is consumed. The mechanical systems have an impact on the floating PDT contact that enables remote signalling with a free choice of transmission signals and without additional space requirements. The true surge current arresters - that are based on the encapsulated spark gap technonology - only consume little line follow current. For this reason, very small fuses remain unaffected by the line follow current. Due to the high rated surge arrester voltage, FLASHTRAB compact can be applied worldwide. The high performance of the modules offers system protection against lightning up to 200,000 A. The comfortable installation is another advantage: All connectors can be plugged into the base element in both directions. Whether the cable entries are located at the top or at the bottom, the flexible installation direction of the modules can be adapted to the actual installation. We offer convenient installation blocks for all conventional 3-, 4-, or 5-conductor networks.

Further information regarding FLASHTRAB compact is available on CD ROM by the midst of June (Order No.: 51 65 26 7).

INTERFACE Wireless - Easy and error-free signal transmission via radio

Complex cable installations require a great deal of time, money, and effort. Phoenix Contact makes things much easier with its new wireless transmission system. INTERFACE Wireless transmits signals via radio easily and error-free over distances of up to 3 km (1.86 mi.). The modular stations send and receive up to 33 analog or 66 digital signals per system. For larger numbers of signals, several systems can be operated in parallel. Easy installation and device operation enable fast startup.

Forget the Cables, Not the Signals
INTERFACE Wireless provides planners and users with a very simple radio transmission path for industrial areas of application. Signals that could previously only be acquired with a great deal of effort or not at all, can now be acquired quickly and easily. Point-to-point connections and even multiple receiver systems can be implemented to multiply and split signals.

Complex Cable Installations Are Now a Thing of the Past
INTERFACE Wireless provides a radio connection, which can be installed quickly and can easily lead to a saving of several thousand Euros. Wherever obstacles such as streets, railway lines or rivers have to be crossed, the industrial radio connection creates new solutions at a fraction of the other costs.

Signal Transmission via Radio
INTERFACE Wireless increases system availability in machine and plant engineering: wireless signal transmission speaks for itself by avoiding elements susceptible to a high degree of wear. Flexible cable conduits and sliprings are cost-intensive elements susceptible to a high degree of wear in a plant or machine. Purchase, servicing, and repair costs, as well as the costs resulting from downtimes make slipring or flexible cable conduit solutions expensive. A radio connection, on the other hand, is maintenance-free.

INTERFACE Ex Intrinsically Safe (Ex-i) Isolators in Pluggable PI Housings

From now on, intrinsically safe (Ex-I) NAMUR isolating amplifiers with passive transistor output as well as intrinsically safe relays with pluggable PI housing are available. With regard to digital signals, they round off the functionality spectrum of the innovative PI product ranges. The NAMUR isolating amplifier PI-EX-NAM/TO-P ( Order No. 2865117 ) is suitable for use within proximity switches as well as other switches installed in the Ex area. The signals from the Ex area are transmitted to the control system that is located within the safe area. An option of phase reversal allows the user to send error messages for every sensor state. The module has a comfortable line fault detection. For detected line faults or supply voltage failure switches the passive transistor output into the powerless state. The intrinsically safe relay PI-Ex-DO/REL-S ( Order No. 2865120 ) is intended for switching intrinsically safe electrical circuits in the Ex area. Supply voltage and switching state are indicated via LEDs at the front. The relay coupler can either be controlled via an external switching voltage of 4…30 V DC or via external switch contacts. The relay contact can either be operated manually or via slide switch. The PI series from Phoenix Contact comprises a pluggable intrinsically safe isolator module (with only a width of 12.4 mm) as well as the corresponding basic terminal blocks. In this way, the costs for configuration, startup and maintenance are reduced drastically compared to the costs when using conventional Ex-i DIN rails. Space requirement is also drastically reduced. Multi-channel PI motherboards are also available.
